Savings Accounts For Our Children Are Being Sorted!

I’m feeling quite pleased at making some progress with sorting out the savings accounts for our children so just wanted to update you.

I decided the first thing to do was to visit Nationwide and sort out the two ‘Smart 2 Save’ accounts my Father had been saving into for our children. As I mentioned he died last year and whilst we went through all the necessary probate matters I wasn’t sure what had happened with these 2 accounts.

Well, it turned out to be all quite straight forward in that I was simply able to have the balances transferred into the savings accounts that we had opened for the children. The accounts set up by my father were closed too so we don’t need to worry about those any more.

I can’t tell you how relieved I was at how simple this all was. I had visions of it all being very complicated and as always very nearly put off taking action as a result – just goes to show it pays to ‘take the bull by the horns’ and deal with a problem, it’s usually nothing like as difficult to do as you imagine!

So the good news is I now have the Nationwide money altogether. The bad news is I still need to transfer the old Britannia account across and then I need to sort out getting the best children’s savings accounts set up which I suspect means a move away, at least in part, from Nationwide.

I also need to sort out the old Abbey National and Halifax accounts I have with a small amount in each.

So not quite there yet, but at least I’ve made a start.

I’ve also made a start on sorting out my Samsung Galaxy…..but that’s an update in another post…..
