Wow! I’ve just seen that from 12 October the London Evening Standard will be FREE.
It’s been a paid for newspaper all its 180 years of life and now that Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev has taken it over it’s going to be FREE!
Lebedev said ‘I am confident that more than doubling the London Evening Standard’s circulation and maintaining its quality journalism is what London deserves.’
The intention is to increase the number of copies to 600,000 per day.
The announcement follows the decision by News International to axe its free afternoon daily in the capital, thelondonpaper.
Is this the right move for the London Evening Standard?
