Tomorrow is “Panic Saturday” – when shops are besieged with last minute Christmas shoppers

Saturday 19th December is “Panic Saturday”, so you have been warned. It’s the day when hoards of shoppers descend upon the high street in search of those last minute Christmas presents.

Christmas spendingApparently 15 million people are expected to hit the high street tomorrow, according to online shopping site Kelkoo and the Centre for Retail Research, however it is likely that some retailers will be sneakily increasing their prices, knowing that their customers probably haven’t got time to be too discerning over prices.

Toys, it seems, are susceptible to a crafty uplift in prices at the moment, but some of the most sought after presents have already disappeared from the shelves in high street shops.

The most sought after gift this Christmas has been the Wii Fit, followed by the Apple iPod Touch and the iPod Nano.  Buying online still offers the best discounts for these hot items and you can still receive delivery if you order soon.

In fact Amazon will still deliver by Christmas with their free super saver delivery service if you order today (Friday 18th) and they have Nintendo Wii Consoles in stock.

John Lewis will also deliver gift, fashion and home products by Christmas if you order by 21st December, although larger items need to be ordered today.

So as kelkoo are saying, you need not join the Saturday panic tomorrow, but can still benefit from some of the great online discounts and receive them by Christmas, but it’s probably best to hurry with those online orders.
