Barnsley Building Society, a trading name of Yorkshire Building Society is offering a 5 year fixed rate savings account at 5.4% and urges those looking for a good guaranteed savings rate to act before they are taken from the market.

Fixed rate savingsThe full range of Online Bonds with fixed rate savings from Barnsley include

  • 5 year fixed – 5.4% gross/AER
  • 4 year fixed – 5.15% gross/AER
  • 3 year fixed – 5% gross/AER

The Online Bonds can be opened with a minimum of £100 and a maximum of £500,000.

Sarah Lawrence, Senior Product Manager at Barnsley Building Society, said ‘Some consumers are suggesting that they are resisting the current tempting fixed rate offers, believing interest rates will increase.

Whilst it’s likely that the Bank of England base rate will rise above its current 0.5% over the coming years, it is by no means certain that savings rates will increase in tandem.’

Perhaps now is a good time to secure a fixed rate savings account?
