If you have read our Kindle review, you will know that we rate this reading device very highly. You still have to buy books for it, of course, but do you realise that there are thousands of Kindle books that are completely free?
The Kindle store on the Amazon website literally contains hundreds of thousands of books that you can download to your Kindle.
Most of them cost money, of course, however there are many free kindle books, as we will explain in this article.
Classic novels such as Dracula, Pride and Prejudice, Oliver Twist and thousands of others are now out of copyright as their authors died more than fifty years ago.
Their work has now fallen into the public domain and is therefore available to anyone who wants to read it – completely free of charge.
There are some fantastic books that you can download onto your Kindle without paying a penny. Browsing the Kindle Popular Classics section on Amazon.co.uk shows that there are currently 4,615 free kindle books available.
You should be aware that some, but by no means all, of these books are scanned images of the original book, so they might not have the same quality as a conventional Kindle book that you have to pay for, but if you keep trying you are likely to find a very readable classic book, completely free!
These very same novels can cost £7.79 as a conventional paperback or hardback book, so if you want to extend your literary education then downloading these free classics to your Kindle is definitely the way to go.
There are many benefits to owning a Kindle (see our Kindle review for more of our thoughts), but a hidden bonus is that it opens up a world of classic novels all for free.
